And then he walked along the edge of the Circle

This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!

New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

Comments on Paul Kossoff [reply]

My only memory of this gig was that the band played a few tracks ( brilliantly) then Paul Kossoff staggered on to the stage, high as a kite, too stoned to even know what direction to face and we either walked out or the band did!!

I believe he died shortly afterwards.

That sort of fits with my memory of paul Kossoff that night.  He was in a shocking, drug-induced state and I read somewhere else that before the gig he couldn't even get it together to tune his guitar.

However, I also remember towards the end of the show, the singer Terry Slessor-Wilson invited Koss to come to the mic to say a few words to the crowd.  Koss tried to do so, but couldn't speak and ended up just sticking his thumb up to the audience, as if to say.....God knows what, before promptly falling over on his back.  But he got back to his feet and then tore right into an absolutely amazing version of "The Hunter".

I think it was one of the saddest things I have ever seen at a rock concert.  By the March of the next year he was dead.
