And then he walked along the edge of the Circle

This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!

New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

Comments on Alice Cooper [reply]

THIS WAS ONCE AGAIN A GREAT CONCERT. ALICE COOPER
IS AN WILL ALLWAY'S BE THE KING OF THEATER ROCK, A TRUE ROCK-N-ROLL HALL OF FAMER. THE 1 THING I RECALL ABOUT THIS SHOW WAS THE LOOK ON THE BOUNCER'S FACE'S, WHEN ALICE AN HIS BAND TOOK TO THE STAGE. IT WAS LIKE SATAN HIM SELF HAD JUST WALKED INTO THE APOLLO. MUCH THE SAME WAY THEY DID AT THE KISS GIG. LONG LIVE THE APOLLO!!!!!!!!!

I remember Alice promising that he wouldnt wait another 10 years before he came back to Glasgow at the 1982 gig, kept his promise too. [reply]

November 1972 - Alice had said in the press that, having done London, I think, the previous year,he wanted to do the other BIG city in the UK. Glasgow Greens Playhouse was his only gig in the UK that year and attracted fans from all over! I was over the moon when I received my tickets - tenth row from the front.

What an atmosphere! Some of my crowd dressed up a bit. Me, myself wearing an old second hand top hat and tails kit. I remember Alice saying that we (the crowd) were crazier than he was. And do you remeber the two giant baloon balls that were propped up atop the speaker stacks and then kicked out to bounce over the audience. Brilliant!

There's a great review of the November 1972 gig in the links/reviews section of this website. [reply]

Great gig in 72..I remember, for some reason, we had to get tickets by post, and mine not arriving till the morning before the gig...cutting it a bit close werent they. I always thought this was the first ever gig he did in UK, but I note somebody mentioned he had played London before..so I must be wrong. Was a great gig..I was on balcony, near front so had a great view..Unforgettable. [reply]
