And then he walked along the edge of the Circle

This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!

New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

Comments on Montrose [reply]

Saw them with The Quo in 73 (i think) thought they were the best band I had ever seen.  (they were the first band I hade ever seen) and I remember them on the whistle test the next night and sammy hagar wearing the same gear.  We were full of excitement at school that day and I can always remember walking into the Apollo that night for the very first time, it looked enormous and the bouncers were throwing flimsy copies of their new album all over the place( I may still have one in the loft) [reply]

I was a big Quo fan at the time and went to the 16/4/76 gig.To me Montrose blew Quo away .Sammy Hagar in his polka dot trousers singing "Rock Candy" I will never forget. [reply]

It was April 1974, definately. (the 14th I think but I may be wrong on that) It was also my first gig and both Montrose and Quo completely blew me away. I've still got some of the old Montrose songs on my mp3 player now and still love Sammy Hagars voice ; 36 years later........ [reply]

Just checked on the 'who played when' thing - it was 14th May 1974. [reply]
