And then he walked along the edge of the Circle

This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!

New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

Comments on Saxon [reply]

Sep 18th ( RIP Jimi ) 1982, the night that halfway through an excellent show that Biff announced to the crowd that he had heard that Glasgow was one of the Heavy Metal capitals of ENGLAND!!!!! - when he received a halfhearted cheer from the crowd ( probably those that were too drunk to understand what he said and just cheered at anything anyway ), the quick thinking Biff, realizing his F*** up hastily announced that Glasgow was THEE Heavy Metal capital of SCOTLAND. For this he got a big cheer but I think he got the message not to let that happen again or face the wrath of the Apollo crowd much like what happened to Samson on the Blackfoot tour with that fat slug singing for them [reply]

I remember enjoying their gig.
Biff was really good with the crowd,,and did the singing contest by dividing up who was allowed to sing and giving each part of the hall different names too.
He had one of those super duper beam torches to point out audience members too!Good gig!

Another band you could always rely on for a great night out. Saw them something like 7 times in 2 years back then, and still try and catch them in London when I can 'cos they still know how to rock (sorry!) [reply]

Saw them a couple of times in the early 80's as support to Nazareth and somebody else and then headlining on the Strong Arm tour (got a free ticket). Never a band I really rated and always thought they were in the right place at the right time otherwise they'd still be playing pubs. There were far better NWBHM bands around at the time. [reply]
