And then he walked along the edge of the Circle

This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!

New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

Totally unforgetable just to see Japan come on in full make-up to an Apollo packed with 3000+ Heavy Metal fans and take a complete pounding - to the extent that singer Dave Sylvian took off his guitar and threw it down at one point in a childish strop !! I'm pretty sure he was crying at the time. Still, didn't seem to do them to much harm as they went on to great success in the next few years. Don't think they ever played the Apollo again though. I remember that.I was quite close to the front of the stalls and Im sure there were fliers on the seats for a band called the Tubes cause I can remember hoding one of them up.BOC were my fav band at the time and I spent the afternon before the concert getting a T shirt From Listen. [reply]

Yes, Japan did play the Apollo again, sometime in the early eighties.  I remember being in the Gods for that one. [reply]

I SAW B.O.C. ON THE SAME TOUR IN THE USA IN SUPPORT OF KISS. THEY HAD A KILLER LASER LIGHT SHOW, I RECALL THE DRUMMER WEARING A GODZILLA MASK ON THE SONG GODZILLA.DID THEY DO THE SAME SHOW AT THE GREAT APOLLO THAT NIGHT WITH JAPAN? [reply]

Yes, they had the brilliant laser show, machine gun fire, inside a concile ray from his ring etc. A great show far better than the one Tagerine Dream were saying at the time was a spectacular light show. It was not.
Cheers

Alan
